Seren studied Creative Arts Practice at Bath Spa University, where she graduated with a First Class BA (hons). In the summer she graduated, she worked to support Douglas and Jennie Phillips with their Pottery Summer Schools, completing her final university assessments upstairs in their home.

She continued to work at Ridge pottery every summer until 2024, when she started as a full-time apprentice.

Her pots are made from local clays and various ball clays combined at the pottery to create a mixture of throwing and hand-building bodies. Finished pots are decorated with slips, rich earthy glazes and a mixture of oxides and overglaze pigments; many of which are also made using local materials. Seren once-fires all her work in a wood kiln designed by Douglas Phillips , which works to enhance the depth of the surface and materials used.

Seren’s work is rooted in the traditional methods used at Ridge Pottery, finding joy in every part of the process. From chopping wood to power the kiln, to processing local raw materials to mix clays and glazes, to collecting cold rain water from the water buts in the garden to make pots on the kick wheel she uses. The work she currently makes is a direct reflection of her time here, and it would not be possible without the teaching and support she has received from Douglas and Jennie.
